Back Pain Secrets Podcast

May 31, 2021

The surgical procedures that treat herniated discs are:

1.In a laminotomy, a surgeon makes an opening in the vertebral arch (lamina) to relieve pressure on your nerve roots.

2.In a discectomy/microdiscectomy relieves the pressure on a spinal nerve root by removing the material causing the pain.

3.Artificial disc surgery. With artificial disc replacement, the procedure is designed to bring about pain relief by removing the painful disc, and motion at that spinal segment is maintained.

4.Spinal fusion. Spinal fusion is surgery to permanently connect two or more vertebrae in your spine, eliminating motion between them.
